Review: Poetry, rock´n roll, Pantanal, passion, nature, freedom. There is that plus samba, grunge, country, humor, bossa, history and romanticism. But none of that can define República dos livres pensamentos (Free thoughts republic). The new cd from Filho dos Livres puts together technical domain and artistic freedom, in a project magnetized by influences, but at the same time absolutely original, authentic and mature.

There are 18 new songs, from Guga Borba and Guilherme Cruz, plus partnerships with Altair dos Santos, who is writing with the duo since the Bonus Track project, and Marcello Pettengill, who also has partnerships with several sul-mato-grossenses songwriters. Admiration and friendship brought together these composers with the Filho dos Livres duo, bringing more subjectivity, depth, and a certain existentialism. Emerge in their work local images as well as from the Pantanal waters. The songs deconstruct and rebuilt sceneries, bring up wishes, pain, and communicate Guga and Guilherme´s love for music and also their cultural references.

Even with the unquestionable success from Tradiçoes distorcidas (Distorted traditions), their first cd, Filho dos Livres walk now on other formulas but those that had already proved to please their public. Keeping fidelity only to the proposal that took place when their project name was chosen, Guga and Guilherme are free from any formalism, adventuring in arrangements and lyrics with the excitement and creativity that only the inedited and audacious projects provokes in artists. As if they discover the gunpowder in each new song, but without giving up the experience and musical maturity they have acquired over their 14 year career.

The open windows from the first cd now give place to symbols that represents both musical and ideological paganism from the artists, in blue color, that always comes along with them. The references are multiple and connected, despite all the subjectivity that signs their work. From passions, yearnings, and the modern romanticism, deconstructed, to the local folklore, reverences to the sul-mato-grossense music, to the Pantanal, culture, history. As a rule, only sentiment communication through music, with the permanent professionalism and respect to the art.

República dos livres pensamentos is a project in which technique and rhetoric are partners, if not hostage from poetry and sentiments. And the loyalty to their public is exactly that: authentic artists are kept, with their discoveries, references and wishes, in a path about sounds, music, poetry, that fans, friends and partners walks together.
